PITTSBURGH – The Western Pennsylvania Golf Association (WPGA) enters its 127th season with an exciting competition schedule officially set.

The 2026 competition schedule features a range of individual and team competitions, championships and qualifying rounds, offering unique golfing experiences at challenging courses that are in interwoven in the fabric of Western Pennsylvania’s rich golf history.

The 29-event schedule will feature five major championships, each with a long track record of including some of the game’s all-time great figures.

The WPGA major championships on the calendar include:

• The 126th WPGA Amateur Championship, to be contested at The Kahkwa Club in Erie, Pa., on June 8-9.

The Kahkwa Club will host the West Penn Am for a fourth time and first since 2012. The club, in 2016, hosted its first USGA National Championship in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur.

The WPGA Amateur Championship is a three-round competition over two days. Qualifying rounds will be conducted at Latrobe Elks Golf Club (April 22), Willowbrook Country Club (May 7) and Lawrence Park Golf Club (May 14).

A year ago, David Fuhrer II drained a birdie putt on his final hole to dramatically claim the 125th West Penn Am at Sunnehanna Country Club.

• The 106th WPGA Junior Championship, set for Nemacolin County Club in Beallsville, Pa. on June 22.

A year ago, Michael Quallich triumphed in a weather-shortened Junior Championship with a single-round score of 65 at Lone Pine Country Club. The Junior Championship, which is open to both male and female junior players, is a two-round competition.

• The 123rd WPGA Open Championship — a three-day contest for amateur and professional golfers — will be held at Willowbrook Country Club in Apollo, Pa. from July 13-15.

A three-round championship, the West Penn Open was won last year by Connor Schmidt, who battled through multiple weather suspensions to claim his third WPGA major.

Winners of the Open Championship have gone on to claim 13 USGA National Championships and six Major Championships.

Qualifying rounds for the West Penn Open will be held at Montour Heights Country Club (May 18) and Diamond Run Golf Club (June 16.)

• The 19th WPGA Women’s, 2nd WPGA Women’s Mid-Amateur and 10th Senior Women’s Amateur Championships, which will held at a site and date to be determined.

A year ago, the WPGA introduced the Mid-Amateur division, won by former Women’s Am champion Katie Miller-Gee at Fox Chapel Golf Club. Emily Holzopfel won the Women’s Amateur Championship, her first WPGA victory. Jane Wymer and Hee Soo Kim won the Senior and Super-Senior titles, as well.

• The 95th WPGA Senior Amateur Championship, to be played at Nemacolin Country Club on September 28-29.
