The Links at Spring Church plays host to the second of three Senior Series events in 2024 on Tuesday.
The competition features three divisions: Senior, Super-Senior and Net Senior. This is the first time a Senior Series event will be played with Stableford scoring in place.
The first Senior Series took place on April 30th at Nemacolin Country Club.
The Senior Division went to Craig Sabo of Champion Lakes Golf Course with a 2-over score of 73. Paul Bangor finished second at 3-over.
The Super Senior Division (age 65+) was claimed by Don Erickson with a score of 2-over. That was good for a two-stroke victory over Stan Namola. Erickson is a multi-time Senior Series winner who last week claimed the the Super-Senior division victory in the WPGA Senior Four-Ball Championship.
In the Senior Net Division, Pat Petit of Manor Valley Golf Club finished with a gross score of 91 (Net adjusted to an even-par 71). There was a three-way tie for second place at Nemacolin Country Club.
The format for this Senior Series event is 18 holes of Stableford stroke play scoring for each of the three divisions.
With Stableford scoring, points are awarded based on the stroke finish of a hole. Scoring is based on the below format:
Double bogey or higher = 0 points
Bogey = 1 point
Par = 2 points
Birdie = 3 points
Eagle = 4 points
Double eagle = 5 points
One more Senior Series Event will be played this summer, with Series #3 scheduled for September 17 at Totteridge Golf Club in Greensburg.
