The WPGA’s Handicapping and Rules Seminars serve as a refresher on both the World Handicap System (WHS) and the Rules of Golf. Hosted by WPGA member clubs, these seminars provide attendees with updates and enhancements to the Handicap System. They are a required component of the WHS Authorization Program, under which all member clubs must attend an educational seminar and complete a quiz.

The WPGA Club Ambassador Program was created to strengthen communication between the Association and its member clubs. Club Ambassadors serve as key liaisons, helping ensure that each club is fully aware of and able to take advantage of the WPGA’s services, programs, and resources. In turn, Ambassadors play a vital role in keeping the WPGA informed of issues and concerns facing clubs so the Association can respond proactively and provide timely support.

An engaged Club Ambassador can offer meaningful value to the club as a whole. To be effective in this role, Ambassadors should be board members or individuals who have regular access to their club’s Board of Directors.

The primary responsibility of a WPGA Club Ambassador is to act as a liaison between the WPGA and their club. Ambassadors are asked to:

• Attend the annual Club Ambassador Day, held each spring at a WPGA member club

• Attend the WPGA Annual Meeting, held each fall at a WPGA member club

• Share WPGA information, updates, and news with their club and relay club feedback to the WPGA

• Keep the WPGA informed of issues and concerns affecting their club and collaborate with the Association on potential solutions

Each year, WPGA hosts a Club Ambassador Day in the spring and an Annual Meeting in the fall. Member clubs are encouraged to send their Club Ambassadors to attend both meetings annually. The day begins with a business meeting to highlight WPGA activities and business, followed by lunch, golf, and then awards. 

As the information hub for golf in the region, communication is very important to us. Among our publications are the Member Club Director and the USGA Course Rating and Slope Rating® Listing. Also published are the Club Operations and Green Studies that are the result of surveys completed by staff at our Member Clubs.

Additionally, we provide consistent updates on association activities, competitions, news, and core services through our social media channels. We also publish three newsletters each month, including Next on the Tee with the WPGA, which is distributed monthly to all WPGA members, and the GHIN® eRevision, published on the 1st and 15th of each month, highlighting USGA news and personalized scoring records.

Our organization is always just a phone call away for any questions regarding rules situations, committee structure, tournament management and administration or handicapping.

We are committed to being a full-service golf association and we want to respond to the needs of our membership. We want our contributions to include providing a forum for clubs to meet, exchange ideas and become better acquainted.
