Course Rating

As part of our member services, the WPGA rates all Member Clubs in our jurisdiction in accordance with Course Rating System™ with approximately 30 to 40 courses rated annually. Our Course Rating Program is comprised of seven teams located throughout our region with approximately 60 volunteers. We rate Member Clubs on a five-six year rotating schedule or when modifications have been made.

A Course Rating™ and Slope Rating™ can be issued to golf courses with a minimum length of 750 yards for 9 holes and 1500 yards for 18 holes. Each golf club must have a USGA Course Rating and Slope Rating issued at least every ten years to meet its requirements to the World Handicap System™.

Course Rating services include hole-by-hole measurements for all sets of tees for each hole and the golf course is then rated by a group of trained WPGA volunteers and staff. There is no fee for Course Rating Services and course measuring services for Member Clubs. Included in these services is one complimentary set of WPGA Official Distance Markers. The Association does charge a fee to non-member clubs for these services.

If you would like more information on the Association's Course Rating Services please contact us by email or phone. For all current USGA Course Ratings and Slope Rating, please check the National Course Rating and Slope Database™.
